Mister Monday
The first instalment of Keys to the
Kingdom is Mister Monday. Arthur Penhaligon suffers from asthma and has been
hospitalized many times. During a gym class at a new school, he suffers so
badly that two of the students decide to get help and leave him alone. While he
is alone, Mister Monday and Sneezer appear out of nowhere and gift Arthur with
a clock minute hand which Arthur calls the key. They do this because they
believe Arthur is going to die and they can immediately get the key back.
However, the key actually helps Arthur breathe and saves his life. Thus starts
dangerous adventures with dastardly villains in every turn.
Grim Tuesday
The second book in the series of Keys to
the Kingdom, Arthur has returned home for what he thought would be a five or
six-year break. Unfortunately, time in his realm does not equate to time in the
House. To top it all off, the phone call warning Arthur of mischief afoot gets
cut off, leaving him only half in the know. Grim Tuesday, who threatens the
well-being of both Arthur's family and his world. Arthur must retrieve the
Second Key from Grim Tuesday in order to save everything, adventures begins.
Drowned Wednesday
The Drowned Wednesday is probably the
most action-packed of the series so far, though they've all been adventurous.
Here we meet pirates, a whale larger than imagination around, the Raised Rats,
and more. And not only does Arthur need to get to Drowned Wednesday, and find
the third part of the Will, he also has to find and save Leaf, who was picked
up by the ship meant for him, as he was left behind.
Sir Thursday
Sir Thursday is in charge of the
Architect's army and once Arthur is drafted for 100 years of service, the game
is squarely in Thursday's court. Of course, while Arthur is literally fighting
for his life, the trustees are fighting him on another front as well. They have
created a nithling boy to replace Arthur on Earth with the threat of destroying
his family so Arthur cannot ever return home. So now we have Arthur struggling
to fight the nithling army, worrying about his family and trying to wrest the
key from Sir Thursday as well as finding the fourth portion of the Will.
Lady Friday
The fifth book in Garth Nix’s series,
Arthur, the Piper, and Superior Saturday has each received a letter from Lady Friday.
She is abdicating, and leaving her key in her Scriptorium for one of them to
claim. They have to race. Unknown to them, it's a trap. Lady Friday, being an
immortal Trustee/Denizen, doesn't have the same range of emotions as a mortal
human. She has found a way, using her Key to experience emotions through
mortals. Lady Friday's mountain retreat, trying to find a way to save her aunt,
who is also one of Friday's victims, and help Arthur, though he's in the back
of her mind.
Superior Saturday
Superior Saturday is the sixth book in
the Keys to the kingdom series by Garth Nix. Arthur Penhaligon has just
received the fifth key and put an end to Lady Friday's soul sucking ways. Now
he has to find a way to stop mini nukes from ravaging his town and the hospital
full of people he had just rescued. Seeing no choice Arthur travel's to
Superior Saturday's dominion to claim the sixth key. The final confrontation
and cliff hanging ending will leave you starved for more.
Lord Sunday
It is the seventh and last book of The
Keys to the Kingdom, Arthur Penhaligon and his friends Leaf and Suzy are caught
in the chaos, separated by events but drawn together in their fight to survive.
Lord Sunday's magic is unlike any Arthur has encountered before - and his
secrets have the potential to destroy not only Arthur but also the people he
holds most dear. The story ends up with help from memorable characters like
Suzy Turquoise Blue and Dame Primus, Arthur defeats Lord Sunday.
